Learning Disability Care
A learning disability can’t be cured or fixed; it is a lifelong issue. With the right support and intervention, however, children with learning disabilities can succeed in school and go on to successful, often distinguished careers later in life.
Our learning disability team work with persons with learning disabilities and their care givers to improve independence. We provide information and support to persons living with a learning disability on a variety of topics, including:
- Making decisions, obtaining work, and becoming more self-sufficient
- Healthy food tips, health action plans, and self-care are all available.
- Making the most of your community’s health and social services
- Direct payments and budgeting
- Participating in events and meeting new people
- Developing new abilities
- You and your caregiver can take short breaks.
- Our learning disability services are run in people’s homes, health centers, nursing and residential homes.
Parents can also help children with learning disabilities achieve such success by encouraging their strengths, knowing their weaknesses, understanding the educational system, working with professionals and learning about strategies for dealing with specific difficulties.
Quality and experience
Our services meet or exceed the standards set by the Care Quality Commission. We also have our own quality standards, What Matters Most, which help us support people in the best possible way. These standards have been developed to cover the things that people have told us are important to them.
We have supported many people to move from residential care or family homes into their own place or a house shared with friends.
